Sunday's (8-10-08) Del Mar 9-race card features the Grade 2 Best Pal (race 8) for juvenile colts sprinting six and one-half furlongs over Polytrack.
#9 Azul Leon (5-2) is 2-2 and the likely fav, but he has yet to run particulary fast and beat a weak stakes field at Hollywood last time. I'll shoot for some Horse du Jour value with #5 CORONET OF A BARON (6-1).
The $550k Darley purchase pulled off a sharp wire job from post 11 in his Arlington debut, and the show finisher from that heat came back to score. The speed rating he earned in that win tops this group, and he projects a nice trip tracking inside speedster Captain Steel.
The Eoin Harty trainee sports four local drills for this, including a sharp five furlong bullet on August 6th.
