The Thursday program does not feature a stakes event but a big weekend is on the horizon as the $300,000 Raven Run headlines the Saturday program. There aren’t as many over-stuffed fields on the Thursday program but there are a number of exciting wagering opportunities for punters that are ready to fire away.

The 6th race is a $52,000 N1X allowance event for two year-olds going a mile on the lawn. A field of ten has been assembled and the favorite will likely be #2 DEPOSER, a relocated European who started in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and raced wide before finishing a respectable fourth. It seems reasonable to think that he’ll move forward in his 2nd outing in America with the addition of lasix.

After thorough pedigree analysis there were a few pieces of information that are quite pertinent. For example, #8 HIGH SPIRIT, a gelded son of Stephen Got Even who just broke his maiden against claimers, is a half to stakes winner Swingit and the stakes-placed mare Singit. He showed significant improvement in his 2nd career start, which happened to be his first on a synthetic surface. It’s quite clear he didn’t beat much that afternoon but given his solid pedigree and the improvement he showed after earning some experience, he’s worth a few bucks at 20-1 or more.

DAY 10 HORSE du JOUR: Race 6, #8 HIGH SPIRIT

DAY 9 RECAP: Sealed Bid was in a perfect spot turning for home but hung a bit after getting a clear path on the rail, ultimately finishing 3rd.

MEET TOTALS: 8: 0-2-1

Good luck!
