The Friday program is headlined by the $150,000 Pin Oak Valley View for three year-old fillies at a mile and a sixteenth on the grass. It will be the focus as it is the race which features our Horse du Jour.

The morning line favorite is #10 ACOMA who has no turf experience but a decent pedigree for the green. She seems utterly beatable, so it would behoove any punter to explore other options. Results at this racetrack like Purim winning the 2007 Shadwell Turf Mile, Thorn Song winning the 2008 rendition, and Alwajeeha winning the QEII all have a common thread. The common thread is that those horses all had wins over the Keeneland lawn.

One very attractive animal in here who has a win over the Keeneland lawn is #2 SCOLARA. A daughter of Quiet American, this gal proved herself to be an effective turf performer right off the bat as she finished 2nd, 3rd, and 1st in her first three tries on the lawn. She ultimately wound up trying stakes company in the inaugural American 1000 Guineas where she finished 2nd at 5-2 behind #8 MUCH OBLIGED. She’s been laid off since then but trainer Bill Mott does quite well with these types and his barn has been very steady at the meet. There is a great deal of pace in this event, which will certainly help this gal. At her morning line of 8-1 she is an excellent gamble.

DAY 11 HORSE du JOUR: Race 9, #2 SCOLARA

DAY 10 RECAP: High Spirit finished fifth in the sixth on Thursday.

MEET TOTALS: 9: 0-2-1

Good luck!
