The featured event on Thursday’s program is the $150,000 JP MorganChase Jessamine for two year-old fillies on the grass. It is the last Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race of the year.

The 4th race is a N1X allowance event for two year-olds going once around the Polytrack. A small field has been assembled, which is a true rarity when it comes to racing at Keeneland. Favoritism should be split among a handful of runners in here and that could make for some value with the leftovers. One of the supposed leftovers will be #2 DEVIL APPROVED IT. A two year-old colt by Devil His Due, this guy is fresh off a win at Presque Isle for trainer Merrill Scherer.

He showed little in his debut in Erie, PA then was moved to the turf at Ellis Park for his next two outings. He gradually improved but ran the best race of his brief career to that point the first time he wore blinkers. In his 2nd start with blinkers he showed more improvement and broke through for the victory. He now lands in a spot where there should be some pace and that will definitely help a horse who likes to do his running in the late stages.

DAY 5 HORSE du JOUR: Race 4, #2 DEVIL APPROVED IT

DAY 4 RECAP: Jane’s Baby took over turning for home but was overhauled by the favorite to give us our second runner-up finish in three days.

MEET TOTALS: 3: 0-2-0

Good luck!
