The Friday program is headlined by the Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes at 5˝ furlongs on the turf course for older fillies and mares. A field of ten is set to spar and there seems to be a good mixture of speed horses, stalkers, and closers, which should guarantee a very competitive, enjoyable affair that offers good wagering opportunities.

#1 AMERICAN COUNTY- A speedster from the barn of Dale Romans, this daughter of Gibson County is returning from a May layoff and will now try a surface she never has before. She’s shown a great deal of early zip and is a stakes winner already but this seems like a tall order for a filly who wasn’t in very good form before going to the shelf.

#2 KATERBUG- After a very sharp effort in the Kentucky Cup Ladies Turf this gal is being shortened up to a distance where she has one win in one try. You can lose a great deal of money betting turf horses cutting back from two turns to sprints, and this gal, while consistent and quite fast, seems like a trap. She worked a good three-eighths last Saturday but she’s going to need to get her engine cranked way earlier than normal this afternoon.

#3 TALETOBETOLD was in the middle of a productive summer when she relocated to Saratoga, where she failed miserably in one start going long. She subsequently went down to Belmont and made the pace in the Positive Gal before tiring in the lane. She will be among the early runners in here and she just may be the speed of the speed. If she doesn’t get the early lead, fear not, as many of her best races have come when she stalked the pace.

#4 GAME N LAUGHIN’- After two good races in a row at Remington, this daughter of Distorted Humor is being brought into the “big leagues.” A Remington shipper came in and won the Woodford on Saturday and it’s quite clear that this lady is in very good form. She’s one of the ones if the pace gets hot.

#7 SLY STORM- A highly regarded 2YO, this gal was tried on turf after a dull effort in the Victory Ride at Saratoga on Travers day. She took to the turf quite nicely and won from off the pace at 4/5. She’ll benefit from a hot pace in here, which seems like a strong possibility. Two very nice workouts since her win over the lawn show that she’s clearly ready to roll.

#8 CREATIVE DESIGN- The “other” Tom Proctor trainee is also coming off a win at Arlington after being shortened up to today’s sprint distance. She may be a wet turf freak, as her best races have come on surfaces that were holding a bit of moisture. If not, she is in the mix for the win in this event, so act accordingly when constructing your Pick 4.

#10 NATALICAT- is 2 for 2 on turf and exits a classy race at Turfway where she lost all chance at the start. She should appreciate some of the intanginbles being reversed in this situation as she now goes outside, tries a new surface, and benefits from being in a top barn.

DAY 6 RACE DU JOUR PLAY:

$30 WIN and #20 PLACE on #10 NATALICAT

TOTAL: 50$

MEET TOTALS: $433.50
