Ron Geary, owner of Ellis Park, has announced that he will not open the racetrack as scheduled this weekend for its 44-day meet.

This is craziness. Do the horsemen realize what they are doing? It's absurd. Calder, now this. Plus, a host of other tracks are only available on only one ADW. Make some agreements.
The industry is replete with organizations that have horrific management/representation - the Jockey's Guild (for years, if not decades), and the horsemen have shown an inability to get the job done.
Now, Geary is shutting down to save from losing more. You know what, that's the right move for him to make. He tried to overpower the horsemen so that EVERYONE could make money and since that wasn't allowed by the courts, he's making the fiscally sound decision.
Employees were just let go...
