How good it is to have the average age of a Grade I stakes (with 10 entrants) be close to six (even without Lava Man)!
You think thoroughbred racing could reach more "average" fans if Smarty Jones, Afleet Alex, Street Sense and Hard Spun were in this field??
I am interested to see how Go Between performs, given that Mott said he wished he could get a few more works in him. Not a ringing endorsement....
It's Heatseeker's race to lose. But yes, retirements... a very touchy subject with me.
Definitely, not only is he a notch above on figs, it doesn't appear there will be the solid pace scenario Go Between enjoyed for his big efforts earlier this year, and Tiago appears to lose a step on poly vs dirt. Heatseeker may be worth even money, but we may not even see that. I'll just enjoy it and root for Perfect Drift!
As nice as it would be to have the recent retirees in the race, I'm glad to see the old warriors in the race and still running well.
I'll root for Perfect Drift myself, even if he comes in second to Student Council.
